First edition of Digital.CSIC Awards [17/04/2012]
Just released the recipients of the first edition of Digital.CSIC Awards! These awards recognise efforts to make CSIC research outputs available in open access in 3 categories: researcher, center and libraries. Find out their names at the web of the Fourth Conference of CSIC Libraries Network.

Mendeley functionality available in Digital.CSIC [10/04/2012]
Now it is possible to export references of the items housed in Digital.CSIC to Mendeley. The button for bookmarking and linking is available under the title of items and it is necessary to have a Mendeley user account first.

Expert group meeting on Open Access in Biomedical Research [27/03/2012]
On March 21-22, the European Medical Research Councils (EMRC) organised with the collaboration of the CSIC Unit of Scientific Resources for Research (URICI) an expert group meeting on Open Access in Biomedical Research. More than 30 experts representing 11 ESF member organisations as well as research agencies, publishers and research library organisations throughout Europe gathered to discuss current barriers to access biomedical research and alternatives offered by open access. CSIC participates through its repository Digital.CSIC in this initiative that is coordinated by the European Science Foundation (ESF).

Registration open for new Digital.CSIC workshop [06/03/2012]
From March 5 to 16 CSIC researchers and librarians can register for the workshop "Management of authors' rights in open access. Open access policies and new models to measure the impact and evaluate the perfomance of scientific outputs" (Madrid, June 4-5). More details in the institutional web site.

Conclusions of PEER Economics Research Report [01/03/2012]
EU-funded PEER project (Publishing and the Ecology of European Research) has explored the impact of massive self-archiving (Green Open Access) from different angles. PEER Economics Research Report, recently released, addresses this issue by associating economic costs with the management and sustainability of repositories and publishing initiatives. Digital.CSIC is one of the repositories studied.

WorldCat indexes Digital.CSIC collections [13/02/2012]
From now, Digital.CSIC items can be also discovered from WorldCat, the largest network of libraries content and services in the world and 1.5+ billion items indexed. WorldCat adds to other specialised platforms that harvest Digital.CSIC items, such as WorldWideScience and BASE.

Time for new scientific communication models [01/02/2012]
This article analyzes the origin and consequences of the open, free and permanent access to publicly funded research outputs and the reasons why the scientific communication model which is more concerned about economic profit than about the social value of dissemination of science is contested.

The registration for the workshop Digital.CSIC: Dublin Core cataloguing, management of authors' rights and publishers permissions policies. Measure. visibility and impact of scientific outputs (March 12-13-14) will be open on January 9-20.
