Training materials of "Pillars for the Advancement of Open Science" course available [20/09/2023]
The training materials of the CSIC-UIMP summer course "Pillars for the Advancement of Open Science" are available in this collection. The course has addressed the different dimensions of Open Science from a holistic and multidisciplinary perspective to help identify and understand the major issues proposed by this new paradigm to produce, manage, evaluate, disseminate and exploit research results.
Let us not reinvent the wheel: Institutional repositories as innovative publishing infrastructures [24/08/2023]
We are pleased to share our publication titled "No-pay publishing: use institutional repositories" (Nature Correspondence, July 25th, 2023). This letter is a contribution to the ongoing debate about an “open, equitable, and sustainable scholarly publishing system” without costs to readers or authors, which has been revitalized by the recent recommendations of the EU Council. The objective of our contribution is to demonstrate that the infrastructure required to realize the vision of free and sustainable scholarly publishing is already available. REBIUN Report on DSpace Repositories in Spain Out [07/06/2023]
REBIUN Repositories Working Group has released the report Marcos de calidad y autoevaluación para repositorios institucionales: resultados de la encuesta a repositorios DSpace españoles. This is the outcome of the analysis of surveyed repositories about their main features and Dspace functionalities as well as own technological developments and services. The report has been elaborated by members in the WG Action to improve DSpace repositories and COAR Community Framework for Good Practices in Repositories has been used for benchmarking.
Training resources to make the most of DIGITAL.CSIC functionalities and services [06/06/2023]
Last May 23-25 we delivered an intensive workshop to explain how to make use of all functionalities made available on DIGITAL.CSIC to upload, manage and analyze its contents and use advanced services, for instance, to open profiles for researchers, groups and projects; conduct open peer reviews and open comments and measure the degree of FAIRness of its datasets.
Integration of INIA's R2i2 repository into DIGITAL.CSIC finalized [16/05/2023]
This work is part of the integration agenda of the institutional repositories of the 3 new CSIC national centers: IGME, INIA and IEO. With the integration of R2i2 DIGITAL.CSIC has been enriched with almost 5,700 publications (articles and book chapters), conference papers and datasets dealing with the different areas of activity of INIA: Forestry Resources, Animal Health and Reproduction, Plant Protection, Plant and Animal Production, Improvement and Resources, Sustainable Production and Environment (evaluation and management) and Food Production Technology. Check all INIA collections in DIGITAL.CSIC.
Open_igme research outputs added to DIGITAL.CSIC [29/03/2023]
In 2022 DIGITAL.CSIC began integrating the repositories of the 3 new national centres that joined CSIC in April 2021 (namely, the Spanish Geological and Mining Institute (IGME); the National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA); and the Spanish Oceanographic Institute (IEO)). Open_igme, IGME's institutional repository prior to joining CSIC, has been the first to be integrated and has enriched DIGITAL.CSIC with 1,300 research results dating from 1989 to 2021. These and more recent IGME scientific results are available in IGME collections.
Support Materials to Comply with CSIC Open Access Mandate [24/03/2023]
DIGITAL.CSIC Team delivered a new edition of the training course "CSIC Open Access Mandate: Institutional Policy, Compliance, Good Practices and Recommendations" on March 14-15-16, 2023. The course explores in full detail the essentials about these institutional obligations and annual monitoring of compliance, as well as the strategy and recommendations to deposit and enable open access to peer reviewed publications and associated research data in DIGITAL.CSIC.
Portal Pioneras CSIC awarded with CCB Seal of Ministry of Culture [28/02/2023]
This award is the result of the VI edition of the CCB Seal of the Library Cooperation Council to distinguish innovative projects of libraries dependent on Spanish public administrations or library projects in which Spanish public administrations collaborate with special attention to the perspective of gender equality and Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. The Portal is an open access and scientific dissemination project around the large community of CSIC female researchers who were honored by the institution in 2019. It is created and updated by DIGITAL.CSIC Team and counts with the collaboration of CSIC Women and Science Commission, the institutional body whose mission, together with the CSIC Presidency, is to achieve gender equality in CSIC research.
Integration of U.N. Sustainable Development Goals Taxonomy [20/02/2023]
In December 2022 DIGITAL.CSIC team integrated U.N. Sustainable Development Goals Taxonomy into its deposit web form in order to tag in a standardized way those CSIC works that contribute to one or more of such Goals. This integration is a continuation of the systematic semantic enrichment work around the SDGs that the repository started during its first datathon event in September 2022. Currently, hundreds of CSIC works are already tagged with this Taxonomy.
Third Edition of Web Portal of CSIC Open Access Mandate Goes Live [12/12/2022]
The third edition of the Web Monitor of CSIC Open Access Mandate goes live. CSIC Presidency policy entered into force on April 1, 2019 and requests the deposit and open access in DIGITAL.CSIC of all peer-reviewed publications and associated research data generated by institutional scientific community. The third edition of the Web Monitor measures compliance of 2021 scientific ouputs with the institutional policy. The data that serve as the basis for analyses have been extracted in the summer 2022.
