El entorno familiar y monástico de Inés de Ayala

Abstract

[EN] This study is about Inés of Ayala, belonging to the toledan nobility in the second half of the fourteenth century. It analyzes the relationship among her fortune, her family bonds and her support to the mendicant orders. Starting from the debts, the last will and the codicil, it links the ties with the monastery of Santo Domingo el Real, according to the lineage tradition, but also with the Augustinian order, connected with her husband. Besides, it points out her attachment to the nuns of her family and her very little grand-children, and in the opposite hand, the problems with other elder grandsons and granddaughters, because of the controversies for the inheritance.

Este estudio trata sobre Inés de Ayala, miembro de la oligarquía toledana en la segunda mitad del siglo XIV. Analiza las conexiones entre sus medios de fortuna, sus vínculos familiares y su apoyo a las órdenes mendicantes. Los datos proporcionados por una relación de deudas, su testamento y su codicilo ponen de relieve su vinculación a Santo Domingo el Real de Toledo enlazando con el fervor dominico de su linaje, y en el segundo lugar, el apoyo a la orden agustina, ligada a su marido. Esta misma documentación muestra, además, su apego a las religiosas de la familia y algunos nietos pequeños. Al mismo tiempo, se pueden advertir tensiones con otros nietos de mayor edad, surgidas de las disputas por la herencia.
