Algunas observaciones sobre comunidades de algas profundas en Fuerteventura y Lanzarote (islas Canarias)

Abstract

[EN]The marine vegetation of the Fuertevenrura and Lanzarote islands extends to more than 60 meters depth_ Toe maerl beds dominated by lithothamnion corallioides Crouan & Crouan are floristically similar to the maerl beds from the wanner areas of the Western Mediterranean. On the other hand, vegetation of rocky bottoms is scarcely related with that found in the Mediterranean and diversity is low _ More research is needed on deep-water alga! vegetation from the Canary Islands in order to in crease the floristic knowledge of these islands and to correctly asses the phytogeographic relationships of the Macaronesian region. Key Words: Algae, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands.[ES]La vegetación marina de las islas de Fuertevenrura y Lanzarote se extiende hasta profundidades superiores a los -60 metros. Los fondos de maerl dominados por lithothamnion corallioides Crouan & Crouan poseen una constirución florística parecida a los fondos de características similares en las zonas cálidas del Mediterráneo Occidental. La vegetación sobre substrato rocoso, en cambio, muestra poca afinidad con el Mediterráneo y es menos diversa_ El presente trabajo pone de manifiesto la necesidad de esrudiar con más detalle la vegetación profunda del archipiélago canario para incrementar su conocimiento tlorístico y poder valorar correctamente las afinidades biogeográficas de la región macaronésica.
