[EN] From the Diccionario de Autoridades (1726-1739) to the latest edition of the Diccionario de la Lengua Española (2014), the lexicographical work of the Royal Spanish Academy approaches three hundred years of history. The twenty-three editions of the DRAE, along with the Diccionario de Autoridades, constitute an excellent corpus for studying the evolution of the language from various perspectives and are an essential part of the history of Spanish lexicography.
The twelfth edition of the DRAE represents a qualitative leap in the trajectory of a work considered an important part of the heritage of Hispanic culture and, at the same time, a means of transmitting knowledge with social credit. Indeed, the DRAE 1884 is situated in a crucial historical moment after the revolutionary period (1868-1874) and ten years of social and political moderation (1875-1884). In the relations between Spain and the Americas from the 1860s, there is an approach after the schism represented by the Independences, with one of the most significant examples being the formation of corresponding American Academies. From the 18th century to the late 19th century, modern science undergoes a significant renewal of scientific and technical vocabulary. Lastly, in Europe, the first dictionaries with a modern approach are emerging as a result of the new comparative philology of the 19th century.
From the perspective of lexicographical technique, the DRAE 1884 represents a comprehensive revision of the dictionary that entails a substantive modification affecting both the increase in entries and meanings, as well as its methodological foundations. The uniqueness of the changes in this edition is the reason why its text has been selected as the basis for carrying out a model of hypertextual critical edition that provides a multidimensional view of the academic dictionary, in open access.
The research and integral critical edition of the twelfth edition of the DRAE 1884 constitute the objectives of the coordinated project "Model of a digital and hypertextual edition of the DRAE 1884 (e-DRAE 1884)" integrated by two subprojects:
1 "Model of a digital and hypertextual edition of the DRAE 1884. Theoretical foundations for the digital transfer of a dictionary" (reference number: PID2022-136666NB-C21), directed by Gloria Clavería and Margarita Freixas (UAB).
2 "Model of a digital and hypertextual edition of the DRAE 1884. The presence of America in the Dictionary" (reference number: PID2022-136666NB-C22), directed by Esther Hernández (CSIC).
Subproject 2, "Model of a digital and hypertext edition of the DRAE 1884. The presence of America in the Dictionary" aims to investigate how the Americas are represented in this work. The research involves the analysis of the treatment of American lexicon and the study of the contributions of scholars and academics to the DRAE 1884 to answer the following questions: What was the collaboration of the corresponding academies? What were the guidelines followed for the acceptance of materials by the Royal Spanish Academy? and What lexical norms underlie it? The digitization and online accessibility of the American lexical material contained in the digital edition of the DRAE 1884 will reveal the European and American perspectives, which, when viewed together, can provide a better understanding of the history of linguistic ideas in the second half of the 19th century and reveal fundamental aspects of the history of the Spanish language lexicon.
Historians, linguists, philologists, and language enthusiasts in general will be able to explore and leverage the comprehensive critical and hypertext edition of the DRAE 1884 (eDRAE 1884). They will have the opportunity to delve into the linguistic and social ideas that underlie the work.
[ES] Del Diccionario de autoridades (1726-1739) a la última edición del Diccionario de la lengua española (2014), la labor lexicográfica de la Academia se acerca a los trescientos años de historia. Las veintitrés ediciones del DRAE, junto con el Diccionario de autoridades, constituyen un excelente corpus de estudio sobre la evolución de la lengua desde perspectivas diversas y son parte esencial de la historia de la lexicografía española.
La duodécima edición del DRAE supone un salto cualitativo en la trayectoria de una obra considerada como parte importante del patrimonio de la cultura hispánica y, a la vez, como vía de transmisión de conocimiento con crédito social. En efecto, el DRAE 1884 se sitúa en un momento histórico crucial, tras el periodo revolucionario (1868-1874) y diez años de moderación social y política (1875-1884. En las relaciones entre España y América a partir de los años 60 se produce un acercamiento tras el cisma que representaron las Independencias, siendo uno de los exponentes más significativos la formación de las Academias americanas correspondientes. Desde el siglo XVIII hasta finales del siglo XIX la ciencia moderna experimenta una importante renovación del léxico científico y técnico. Por ultimo, en Europa están surgiendo los primeros diccionarios de enfoque moderno resultado de la nueva filología comparativa del siglo XIX.
Desde el punto de vista de la técnica lexicográfica, el DRAE 1884 supone una revisión integral del diccionario que comporta una modificación sustantiva que afecta tanto al aumento de lemas y acepciones como a sus bases metodológicas. La singularidad de los cambios que se producen en esta edición es el motivo por el cual se ha seleccionado su texto como base para llevar a cabo un modelo de edición crítica hipertextual que ofrezca una visión pluridimensional del diccionario académico, en acceso abierto.
El proyecto coordinado «Modelo de una edición digital e hipertextual del DRAE 1884 (e-DRAE 1884)» pretende llevar a cabo la investigación necesaria para una edición crítica hipertextual del Diccionario de la lengua castellana de la Real Academia Española en su duodécima edición, está integrado por dos subproyectos

El subproyecto 2, «Modelo de una edición digital e hipertextual del DRAE 1884. La presencia de América en el Diccionario», se propone investigar cómo está representada América en esta obra. La investigación consiste en el análisis del tratamiento del léxico americano y el estudio de las contribuciones de los estudiosos y académicos al DRAE 1884 para responder a las siguientes preguntas: ¿cuál fue la colaboración de las academias correspondientes? ¿cuáles fueron las directrices que siguió la aceptación de los materiales por parte de la Real Academia Española?, y ¿qué normas léxicas subyacen?. La digitalización y la accesibilidad en línea del material léxico americano contenido en la edición digital del DRAE 1884 (e-DRAE 1884) desvelará la perspectiva europea y americana que, vistas conjuntamente, pueden hacer comprender mejor la historia de las ideas lingüísticas en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y revelar aspectos fundamentales sobre la historia del léxico de la lengua española.
