The main objective of group is to study paleobiodiversity and phylogenetic relationships among mammals; biostratigraphy and palaeogeography of its faunas of fossil; paleoenvironmental and climatic interpretations of mammal continental sites, all at continental geographical and time scales of several million years. The studies focus on large geographical areas by analyzing the evolution of terrestrial ecosystems. To this end, we studied the interactions between vegetation types and mammal communities in a global palaeoclimatic framework. The objective is to determine how changes in vegetation type affect the type of food and diet of the herbivores, the morpho adaptations and evolutionary strategies, as well as the patterns of diversity and replacement of the faunas of mammals. Example of these studies are the work carried out in the interpretation of the evolution of ecosystems in the Mediterranean region and South America. And also Taphonomy research. Taphonomy is an integrative and multidisciplinary investigation that aims to obtain a reliable interpretation of the past in all details. These high resolution interpretations are most especially referred to patterns of preservation and site formation, as well as the interpretation of animal and human behaviours, biostratigraphy, palaeoenvironments, past ecosystems and climatic conditions.
