Isaac has a degree in Biology from the University of Valencia in 2011 (average score: 9.42). He completed the Master degree in Biodiversity at the Faculty of Biology, University of Barcelona, which ended in September 2012 presenting the thesis "The epiphytic lichens Quercus ilexs ubsp. Rotundifolia Vall d'Albaida (Valencia, Spain) as a tool for environmental assessment"(average score: 9.60). He has been a fellow of SYNTHESYS for conducting a two week stay at the University of Copenhagen to develop a research on "Taxonomy of Continental Antarctic Caloplaca & Huea (Teloschistaceae, Ascomycota): towards the Understanding of cryptic diversity in a harsh environment ", supervised by Ulrik Søchting. He also received a grant of Collaboration (2010-2011) of the Ministry of Education for the molecular identification of lichen photobionts in the Department of Botany, University of Valencia and Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology, under the supervision of Eva Barreno Rodriguez. Isaac joined to the Biogeochemistry and Microbial Ecology Department in September 2012 as a FPU predoctoral fellow to carry out his PhD dissertation on "Phylogeography and biology of Antarctic lichens" under the supervision of Asunción de los Ríos.
