Fecha de publicación: | 2002 | Citación: | Revista de la Academia Canaria de Ciencias, XIII (4). 2002: 31-48 | Resumen: | As result of the recent Scientific Expedition "MACARONESIA 2000" (July 2000)several colletions were done in the intertidal and subtidal habitats of Porto Santo Island (Madeira Archipelago, Portugal). In total, 119 macroalgal taxa were identified (10 Cyanophycota, 17 Chlorophycota, 30 Chromophycota y 62 Rhodophycota). Among them, 80 taxa are new records for the island, 56 at specific level and 23 at generic level. The distribution range of numerous species is enlarged, mainly those with macaronesian distribution patterns. The new data of the marine florula for Porto Santo Island enhances the close similarity of the archipelagos of Madeira, Salvages and Canaries, in accordance to that exposedby Prud'homme van Reine & van den Hoek [19].
