ResumenTherapeutic concentrations of olanzapine and aripripazole have a moderate direct effect and adipocyte lipid and glucose metabolism, respectively. At supra-therapeutic concentrations, both of the antipsychotics seem to act as anti-inflammatory agents and mildly suppressed genes involved in the regulationof mitochondrial functions, which could potentially contribute to metabolic adverse effects. Alternatively, second generation antipsychotics could induce metabolic side effects via acting on other insulin-sensitive tissues and central nervous system.
DescripciónAnalysis of the direct effects of SGAs on adipose tissue metabolism and gene expression. The xls file shows the raw data of adipocyte glucose uptake lipolysis after short-term (30 min) and long term (24 and 72h) incubation of adipocytes and adipose tissuewith therapeutic and supra-therapeutic concentration of olanzapine (Ola) and Aripripazole (Ari).
