However, it is necessary the development of formulated diets adapted to the physiological and nutritional needs of spiny lobsters. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of dietary carbohydrate (CH) level on carbohydrate digestion and ¿-amylase expression and activity in the spiny lobster Panulirus argus. This species readily digests and absorbs CH with a time-course that is dependent on the dietary CH content, but it is not able to tightly regulate ¿-amylase expression according to the CH level in diet.
