Jorge Iribas Cerdá obtained his PhD in Physics in 1995 at the University Autónoma of Madrid. He is now a Staff Senior Researcher at ICMM-CSIC. Between 1995-96 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Lawrence Berkely National Laboratory (USA) and spent several periods at the Ecole Normal Superieur in Lyon (France). His expertise is focused on the simulation of materials properties at the quantum mechanical level by means of Density Functional Theory (DFT) and post-DFT methods. The kind of properties typically studied are structural, electronic, magnetic, transport and vibrational applied to both low dimensional and bulk-like systems. In the last years his research activity has dealt with problems involving spin-orbit coupling, ranging from magnetic anisotropies to spin textures. His research efforts also concentrate on the development of the GREEN simulation package, which currently constitutes his main calculation tool. He is co-author of 80 papers in SCI journals (H-index=29 and over 2,400 citations) and has been IP of 3 research projects. He has also supervised 2 PhD Theses.
