Mi investigación se centra en la descripción estadística de patrones de movimiento animal y de dispersión. Más allá de la pura cuantificación, mi verdadero objetivo es entender la emergencia de patrones de movimiento desde una perspectiva mecanicista y evolutiva. Esto implica conectar diferentes niveles de organización biológica (e.g. neurología, fisiología, comportamiento, ecología) con patrones estadísticos de movimiento en diferentes contextos (e.g. forrajeo, dispersión, migración, expansión epidémica). Esta aproximación, no sólo puede suponer una mejora en la descriptiva del movimiento, sino que busca incrementar la capacidad predictiva de los modelos de movimiento animal y dispersión actuales. En la práctica, el estudio del movimiento animal bajo esta perspectiva implica el desarrollo de técnicas estadísticas y de marcos matemáticos de modelización con aplicabilidad a datos empíricos, en el marco general de la ecología del movimiento.
