Strain JM300 represents a new genomovar within Pseudomonas stutzeri

AbstractStrain JM300 is one of the most well-studied strains of the species Pseudomonas stutzeri. It was originally classified by phenotypic characterization. Our analysis by 16S rRNA gene sequence comparisons demonstrates that JM300 clusters phylogenetically with other well-characterized strains of P. stutzeri. DNA-DNA hybridization analysis provides evidence that JM300 represents a new genomovar (gv. 8) of intraspecific heterogeneity within the species P. stutzeri.
