AbstractThis paper presents a new algorithm for solving the sensor placement problem in order to achieve the required fault detectability and isolability. The method is based on structural models, which means that non-linear differential systems can be efficiently handled. The developed algorithm does not need to compute any residual since it is based on structural model properties. Thus, the residual computation burden is avoided. The method can also handle faults of the extra placed sensors as well as the possibility of installing repeated sensors.
