dc.description.abstractThe present invention relates to a negative-electrode material for a sodium ion battery, as well as to a method for its preparation. The active substance of the electrode material is constituted by an oxide whose structure corresponds to the flaky structure of the compound Na2Ti3O7; said oxide having the formula NaxTi(IV)aTi(III)bMcO7 (A) in which x denotes the number of Na+ ions inserted between the flakes, per structural unit Ti3O7, 0<x<5; Ti(IV) and Ti(III) represent titanium with degree of oxidation IV and III respectively; M represents one or more elements chosen from the 3d transition metals and the 4d transition metals; the values of x, a, b and c are such that the compound is electronically neutral having regard to the degree of oxidation of the element or elements represented by M; the ratio (a+b)/c is greater than 0.5. The electrode material is obtained by electrochemical reduction of an oxide NaxTi(IV)a'McO7 (B).es_ES
