dc.description.abstract | [EN]Albendazole pemix in subclinical trichostongylidosis of heifers grazing on clem pastures. Fifteen calves of morucha race aged 6-8 months, asymptomatic infected by trichostonglylids (Cooperia, Ostertagia and Trichostrongylus spp.), were divided in two groupas of 7 and 8 animals respectively. The first group received Aldendazole with feed at a daily dose of 1.5 mg/Kg. b.w. during 21 days. The second group was designed as a control. Both groups were alloted in two fenced paddocks of natural patures free of parasites, over a period of time from November-1985 to February-1986. The eggs counts became negative in the faeces of the treated group at 7th day after dosing, and this result continue for the following 90 days, date of the end of the trial. In the control group was detected a gradual fall in the number of eggs, reaching very small figures at last of 90 days. There were non significant differences in the weight of the animals in both groups at 0 -30 - 60 - and 90 days. Under winter climatic conditions in the place of the obseervations, pasture contamination became apparent at 90 dyas (last of February). Larvae in herbage in the control paddock increased up to a level considered as acceptable ("acceptable pasture"), being seven times higher than in paddock of the treated group, where the herbage continued free of parasites ("safe pasture"). Results are discussed taking on consideration some aspects of the control of subclinical trichostrongylidosis in young cattle maintained on permanet pastures in continuous grazing (extensive management). | es_ES |
