Fecha de publicación: | nov-2010 | Citación: | International Conference on Antimicrobial Research, ICAR (2010) | Resumen: | Bacteriocins are ribosomally-synthesised antimicrobial peptides. Most of those produced by lactic acid bacteria act as membrane permeabilizers making pores in the cytoplasmic membrane of target bacteria. However, some were shown to inferere with cell wall biosynthesis. This is the case for the lantibiotic nisin, which uses the cell wall precursor lipid II as a docking molecule for pore formation. Thereby, nisin combines two modes of action in the same molecule for potent antimicrobial activity: cell wall biosynthesis inhibition and pore formation (Wiedemann et al ., 2001). | Descripción: | Comunicación presentada en el International Conference on Antimicrobial Research (ICAR2010), celebrado en Valladolid del 3 al 5 de noviembre de 2010. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10261/83093 |
