Fecha de publicación: | may-2010 | Editor: | Science History Publications | Citación: | Journal for the History of Astronomy, 41 (143): 225-238 (2010) | Resumen: | [EN]The article discusses statistical analysis of megalithic tombs with regard to their seemingly consistent orientation in reference to locations on the horizon where the Sun and Moon rise and set. Locational correlations cited to scientists C. Marciano da Silva and M. Hoskin are noted. One such orientation pattern established for megalithic tombs in Alentejo, Portugal is isolated as a special case because it is thought to represent movement of the Sun or Moon at the horizon. Statistical and modeling approaches are discussed for use in more definitive evaluations of tomb orientations. | Descripción: | 14 pages. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10261/79984 | ISSN: | 0021-8286 |
