AbstractChanges in channel morphology between 1775 and 1988, at the confluence of Jarama and Tajo rivers near Aranjuez , have been studied. In contrast to the relative stability of the Tajo river upstream of the confluence with the Jarama river, there is a great inestability at the two other reaches until 1945. Since then, a relative channel stabilitation, mainly due to a reduction of flood frequency and peak dischargues after dam regulation, has been observed.
