dc.description.abstractA new approach on the modelling of isothermal recrystallisation in cold rolled ferritic steels based on Avrami equation is presented here. The new model corrects some of the fundamental shortcomings of the classical JMAK modelling, such as non-random (clustered) nucleation and decreasing grain growth velocity. It is shown that the new model successfully predicts the recrystallisation degree of the deformed material during an isothermal annealing, depending on the cold rolling grade and annealing conditions. Finally, an application for back annealed coldrolled steels is illustrated. © 2008 The Japan Institute of Metals.-
