AbstractThe cytotaxonomy of about 68 species of Helicidae have been investigated up to date, so we might consider it moderately known. Many of these results are due to Perrot, 1938 a, b, e, recent papers being scaree (L a w s, 1965, R a i n e r, 1967, B u t o t and K i a u t a, 1969, 1970). Coneerning the Iberian Peninsula no species have been studied so far. In this work we study the chromosomes of twelve species belonging to the subfamilies Helicellinae, Cochlicellinae, Mona-chinae and Hygromiinae as well as we consider the cytotaxonomícal aspects derived from these results.
