Los sistemas lacustres del Eoceno superior y Oligoceno del sector oriental de la Cuenca del Ebro

Abstract

[ES] El relleno sedimentari0 de edad Priaboniense superior-Chattiense dcl sector oriental de la cuencade antepaís del Ebro puede subdividirse en cinco secuencias deposicionales, definidas en base a los principales cambios paleogeográficos que afectaron a los sistemas aluviales y lacustres en la región. Tanto el desarrollo de estructuras tectónicas superficiales como los procesos de ajuste isostático regional son considerados como los principales factores de control de esta evolución sedimentaria. Los cinco sistemas lacustres reconocidos (La Noguera, L'Anoia, Segarra, L'Urgell y Los Monegros) muestran unas caracteristicas de extensión areal y desarrollo de facies fuertemente controladas por su situación respecto a las zonas de máxima subsidencia. Las tendencias megasecuenciales de cambio o de alternancia de deposición evaporítica y carbonatada, son atribuidas aquí tanto a posibles cambios climáticos como a cambios en la composición del área fuente. Estos fueron inducidos por la evolución tectónica de 10s margenes de la cuenca.

[EN] The Late Priabonian-Latest Chattian basin infill in the Eastern Ebro foreland basin (NE Spain) can be splitted into five depositional sequences. These sequences have been defined on tbe basis of the paleogeographic and major changes of facies distribution which affectcd the alluvial and lacustrine depositional systems developed in the region. Each depositional sequence started with the settling and development of a lacustrine system whose evolution was finally closed by widespread alluvial progradational events which affected thc whole study area. The thrusting and folding along the basin margins as well as the isostatic rebound which affected the crust are considered the major controlling factors of the recorded sedimentary evolution. The five lacustrine systems in the area (La Noguera, L'Anoia, La Segarra, L'Urgell and Los Monegros) include often evaporitic and carbonate deposits. The megasequential arrangement o€ these deposits may be attributed to major paleoclimatic cyclical changes, but major source area composition variations, related to the tectonic activity in the basin margins must be also considered.
