AbstractThe course of the reactions between complex OsH2Cl 2(PiPr3) (1) and the functionalized cyclopentadienyllithium derivatives Li(C55H4CH 2)2E (E = NMe2 (2), OMe (3)) strongly depends on the solvent used. Thus, in the presence of donor solvents such as THF, the salts [OsH2{η5-C5H4(CH 2)2E}(PiPr3)2] [(OsHCl2(CO)(PiPr3)2](E = NMe 2 [4][5], OMe [6][5]) with a carbonylated osmium anion are produced, while in hydrocarbon solvents the chloride salts [OsH2{n 5-C5H4(CH2)2E}(P iPr3)2]Cl (E = NMe2 [4]Cl, OMe [6]Cl) are formed.
