AbstractDifferent types of spatiotemporal chaos (STC) at onset (`soft-mode turbulence') based on numerical integration of the Nikolaevskii model were studied. The Lyapunov exponents were obtained by linearizing the equation along the trajectory. The Lyapunov exponents and Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy exhibit extensive and microextensive scaling. The power spectrum is described by Gaussian statistics for small wavenumbers and frequencies.
