Abstract[EN]The present thesis work deals with a series of chemical modification strategies (covalent and non-covalent) applied to single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in order to improve both their integration into specific polymer matrices and the filler-matrix interactions. Nanocomposite materials containing modified SWCNTs in those polymer matrices have been prepared and characterized aiming at the rational design of advanced nanocomposite materials for high-performance applications. A thorough characterization of both the filler (before and after modification) and nanocomposites properties has been conducted, emphasizing which strategy is the most suitable for enhancing a property of interest. The obtained results will allow the use of tailored functionalization strategies looking for the enhancement of specific nanocomposite features.
