Abstract[ES] La invención se refiere a péptidos pertenecientes al complejo tenninasa de los herpesvirus, preferiblemente a la proteina UL89-C de citomegalovirus, a la fonna cristalina de dichos péptidos, yal uso de los mismos para el screening y/o diseño de drogas antivirales para el tratamiento y/o prevención de infecciones causadas por herpesvirus. En la presente invención se muestra la generación de un péptido soluble que comprende la región C-tenninal de la proteína UL89 (UL89-C) del citomegalovirus hmnano. Este péptido mantiene la actividad nucleasa de la proteína UL89 completa, presentando una elevada solubilidad, lo que pennite realizar con mayor facilidad estudios de actividad, presentando así una gran aplicabilidad a la hora de buscar fánnacos útiles para el tratamiento frente a infecciones producidas por herpesvirus.
[EN] The invention relates to peptides pertaining to the tenninase complex of herpes viruses, preferably the UL89-C protein of cytomegalovirus. The invention also relates to the crystalline fonn of said peptides, and to the use of same for the screening and/or design of antiviral drugs for the treatment and/or prevention of infections caused by the herpes virus. The invention shows the generation of a soluble peptide comprising the C-tenninal region ofthe UL89 protein (UL89-C) ofthe human cytomegalovirus. Said peptide maintains the nuclease activity of the complete UL89 protein, having a high solubility, which enables activity studies to be carried out more easily, thereby rendering said peptide highly applicable in the search for useful drugs for the treatment of infections produced by the herpes virus.
