AbstractEvernia prunastri (L.) Ach. thalli are subjected to the activity oía lipoxygenase enzyme (Linoleate : oxygen oxidoreductase, EC 1.13.11.12) which usually takes place in phycobiont cells. This activity increases when exposed to light for a period of 9 hours. In such incubation conditions, the dimeric partióles on the EF face of the phycobiont plasmalemma are splitted by which the particle size is reduced while their distribution frequency increases.
