Resumen:	[EN] Contribution to the knowledge of SW Africa Ichthyofaune: Phrynichthys wedli Pietschmann, 1926 (Lophiiformes, Diceratiidae. A single specimen of Phrynichthys wedlii, was caught on the Atlantic coast of South Africa, in 351m (192ft) water depth, at 24º 04' S latitude. The present locality enlarges southward the previous geographical distribution area for that Diceratiidae species.
