Resumen[EN]One of the most interesting redox biocatalysts is galactose oxidase, a redox enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of D-galactose to 1,6-D-galactodialdose in a single copper redox site. Its relevance for the development of galactose electrochemical biosensors, and its potential for biosynthetic reactions due to its affinity for other substrates, have increased the research focused on this enzyme and its possibilities. In this work we review the literature on galactose oxidase studies related with electrochemical devices, electron transfer examples, immobilization strategies and its applications.
