[ES] Ibn Masdi (Guadix 59911203-Meca 663/1265), traditionist, súft and zaydi, spent most of his life in the East, where he produced, among a wide variety of writings, his long biographical work called Wu'jam al-Suylij. This dictionary, which unfortuately has been lost, included a great number of biographies of people from al-Andalus, and was the source for the work of many other eastem writers, including tbe great al-Dahabi. Surprisingly the author was almost unknown in the Maghrib and we only find documented the use al-Tuyibi¡ made of this biographical work.
