La domus de la “Huerta de Otero” en Mérida

Abstract

[ES]: La Huerta de Otero es una Zona Arqueológica situada en el lado occidental de la ciudad de Mérida, delimitada por el dique de contención del río Ana y el muro sur de la alcazaba árabe. Se trata de un solar que fue objeto de excavaciones arqueológicas en 1976 como paso previo a su adquisición por parte de la Administración Central. En dicha intervención se sacaron a la luz los restos de una domus romana y de un lienzo de la muralla de la ciudad. Tras décadas de abandono, a inicios de 2019, se comenzó un proyecto de investigación que tiene como objetivo la documentación integral del solar mediante excavaciones arqueológicas y prospecciones geofísicas y la adecuación a la visita pública de los restos exhumados. En esta aportación damos a conocer la naturaleza de estos restos, hasta ahora inéditos, y las características del proyecto de investigación y socialización que se pretende desarrollar en dicho lugar.

[EN]: The Huerta de Otero is an Archaeological Zone located on the western side of the city of Mérida, bounded by the Ana river dam and the southern wall of the Arab citadel. It is a plot that was the subject of archaeological excavations in 1976 as a previous step to its acquisition by the Central Administration. In this intervention the remains of a Roman domus and a canvas of the city wall were brought to light. After decades of abandonment, at the beginning of 2019, a research project was started that aims at the comprehensive documentation of the site through archaeological excavations and geophysical surveys and the adaptation to the public visit of the exhumed remains. In this contribution we announce the nature of these remains, hitherto unpublished, and the characteristics of the research and socialization project that is intended to be developed in that place.
