Resumen:	The Content and distribution of thirty six trace elements in soil around a large coal thermal power station in NE Spain has been studied. The aim of this study is the detection of the influence of the power plant activity on the above mentioned soils. The results show that there are not anomalous high contents of trace elements in the soils studied. However some of the trace elements taken into consideration could be used as pathfinders of coal firing impact on soils.
