ResumenThe International Space Station is currently in an advanced state of construction. The possibility of conducting in the Space environment longer term experiments than previously possible is becoming a reality, but there are several obstacles in this approach, some purely based on the availability of suitable hardware, some more technical. To eliminate some of them and make possible investigations using one of the more important model systems, Drosophila melanogaster, we have explored the possibility of modifying the current techniques of growth, preparation and fixation of Drosophila melanogaster, taking into account the requirements and the constraints of a long-term space mission. This will allow to establish how the different processes taking place during development actually proceed in space environment and to monitor the adaptation and changes that the organisms may experience during many generations.
