AbstractSi, Al and Fe dissolution by acid-base technique of Segralen is studied in a climatic sequence of volcanic soils of thje Island of Tenerife (Vertisol, Ferrellitic and fersiallitic Soils). The results are correlated with the effect of the treatment in different crystalline compounds by means of X-ray analysis before and after the treatment. In some cases the dissolution of certain minerals (hallosyte and smectite) can be characterised. Fe dissolution kinetics can differentiate "free" forms from Fe as constituent in the clay minerals.
