AbstractThe autors study the mineralogical composition and the weathering of minerals in the sand fraction, in a chronological sequence of Andepts of the Canary Islands. The mineralogical composition is correlated to the types of pyroelastic materials (hasaltic and phonolitic) wich volcanic glasses are quantitatively related to weathering. In the remainder minerals, the weathering is very much correlated with the degree of development of the soil,
