AbstractThe morphological and chemical characteristics of Vitrandepts from the Canary Islands are given in these papers. The more recent volcanic eruptions have influenced the development of these soils. The main vegetation corresponds to pine (pinus canariensis). The profiles are located at 1.000-1.300 mts. of altitude and oriented to the less humid zones of the Islands, with a low pluviometric index. Among the chemical characteristics, +/- value, pH, amorphous materials, total bases, exchangeable bases and organic matter are studied.
