Silicon colloids. Properties and applications to metamaterials, sensing and solar energy harvesting

AuthorsMeseguer, Francisco
Issue Date2014
Citation15th edition of Trends in Nanotechnology International Conference (2014)
AbstractRecently, we have developed silicon colloids (SCs) [1,2] with particle size between 200 nm and 3000 nm. Silicon has an extremely high refractive index value, so SCs behave as optical microcavities in the near IR region. Here we will report on the following applications. 1 Silicon colloids based Raman enhanced sensors 2. Silicon colloids based metamaterials. 3. Silicon nanocavities for Mie enhanced photodiodes.
DescriptionKeynote given at the 15th edition of Trends in Nanotechnology International Conference (TNT2014) held in Barcelona (Spain) on October 27-31th 2014.
