Aparición de un dormidero comunal de Alimoche (Neophron percnopterus) en Cataluña (NE España)

Abstract

[EN]: The first communal roost of Egyptian Vultures in Catalonia is described. The communal roost, first located in 1997, is situated in a pine forest, the birds finding their food ata neighbouring rubbish dump. The establishment of the communal roost is probably related to the recent regular dumping of carrion ut the refuse site. Birds were observed using the roost from February to September; 52% of the Egyptian Vultures observed (n=98) were adults and 48% were immature. The maximum number of Egyptian Vultures observed in the roost was 24. Protection of the communal roost and regular maintenance of the food supply in the rubbish dump are amongst the most important actions needed to guarantee the conservation of this species in Catalonia.

[CA]: La present nota documenta I'aparició del primer dormider estival d'Aufrany descobert a Catalunya I'any 1997. El dormider es troba situat en un bosc de pins i els aufranys obtenen I'aliment d'un abocador pròxim. L'aparició del dormider probablement té relació amb la recent aportació de restes d'animals morts a I'abocador. El 52% dels aufranys observats (n=98) foren adults i el 48% individus no reproductors. El nombre maxim d'ocells observats dormint simultaniament ha estat de 24. La protecció del dormider i el manteniment regular d'aliment adequat a I'abocador són algunes de les accions més importants que garanteixen la conservació d'aquesta especie a Catalunya.
