Driving nanoplasmonics to the atomic scale

AbstractAtomic features in plasmonic nanocavities are shown to provide ultra-confinement of light at subnanometric scale, producing a novel and extreme optical 'pico-cavity' that can be exploited in atomically-resolved molecular spectroscopy, quantum nanooptics and optoelectronic transport.
