AbstractBone loss is a prevalent condition in dental implant dentistry and is what define peri-implantitis. Although autogenous bone is generally considered as the ‘gold standard’ in bone-reconstructive surgery, a major scientific research activity has been developed to provided an ideal bone substitute. Fourth generation of bioactive glasses have shown to be an ideal porous structucture for bone regeneration while improving mechanical properties as scaffold. Furthermore bioglasses display biocide properties which make it particularly suitable for peri-implantitis prevention.
