Title: | Quantum geometry and quantum gravity |
Authors: | Barbero González, Jesús Fernando CSIC ORCID CVN | Keywords: | [PACS] Loop quantum gravity, quantum geometry, spin foams [PACS] Quantum mechanics [PACS] Theory of quantized fields |
Issue Date: | 25-Jun-2008 | Publisher: | American Institute of Physics | Citation: | AIP Conference Proceedings 1023(1): 3-33 (2008) | Abstract: | The purpose of this contribution is to give an introduction to quantum geometry and loop quantum gravity for a wide audience of both physicists and mathematicians. From a physical point of view the emphasis will be on conceptual issues concerning the relationship of the formalism with other more traditional approaches inspired in the treatment of the fundamental interactions in the standard model. Mathematically I will pay special attention to functional analytic issues, the construction of the relevant Hilbert spaces and the definition and properties of geometric operators: areas and volumes. | Description: | 31 pages, 3 figures.-- AIP Conference Proceedings of the XVI International Fall Workshop on Geometry and Physics (Lisbon, Portugal, Sep 5-8, 2007). | Publisher version (URL): | http://dx.doi.org/10.1063/1.2958178 | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10261/17154 | DOI: | 10.1063/1.2958178 | ISSN: | 0094-243X |
