AbstractIndustrially applied catalysts for decontamination processes are usually formed by supported noble metals, and their activities are related to the metal dispersion on the surface of the porous support and to the accessibility of the gases to the active phase which is related with its porosity. The optimization of these parameters is a goal of industrial catalysis in order to improve the activity of the system while taking into account that the cost of the catalyst is minimized. In this work the performance in the catalytic combustion of formaldehyde of a series of supported Pt catalysts with the same composition and prepared by different methods are studied and their behavior are related with their textural properties and the dispersion of the active phase.
