Abstract[EN] The author studies the age and growth of hake landed in the fishing harbour of Blanes (NE of Spain) in the Western Mediterranean. He concludes that on some grounds of this fishing area the species has a growth rhythm definitely higher than in other more southbound zones of the Mediterranean and that, roughly, from the age of 3 the average weight of the examined individuals shows a marked increase. The average size corresponding to this age varies according to zones and fishing season of the individuals
