Paisajes Monumentales en la Región meridional sudamericana

Abstract

[ES] En este trabajo nos proponemos exponer una síntesis interpretativa del conocimiento generado por la investigación sobre la monumentalidad en la región centro uruguaya. Poniendo el acento en la espacialidad y tomando dentro de esta dimensión algunos aspectos que permiten definir la complejidad social entre los cazadores -recolectores de la región, discutiremos aspectos claves como son la intensificación social y la construcción- organización de espacios públicos de integración. Estos argumentos sumados a otros ya definidos, permitirán entender el surgimiento y reproducción -con sus disonantes ritmos- de esta tradición cultural durante casi 5 milenios.

[EN] This work intends to make an interpretative synthesis of the current knowledge about the development of prehistoric monumentality in the centre of Uruguay. Focusing on the spatiality and bringing into it some aspects that allow for the definition of social complexity among hunter-gatherers, we will discuss some key questions such as social intensification and building and organization of public spaces of integration. These arguments, added to some others already developed, will allow for the understanding of the rising and reproduction of this cultural tradition for almost five millenniums.
