|Abstract:||The oil and gas potential associated with Shales are interesting assets for the hydrocarbons sector. The geophysical characterization of a reservoir of this type, allows a more accurate 3D image of the main elastic properties of the Shales in the study area. Previous studies in North America consider a Shale play sweet spot is characterized by: kerogen content of medium to high, low volume of clay, high effective porosity, low water saturation, high Young's modulus and low Poisson's ratio. In this paper we consider some of them as: Poisson's ratio, Young's modulus and LambdaRho-MuRho. λρand μρallowan interpretation of lithology and fluids in the rock. Knowledge of the mineralogical composition of the rock allows calculating the brittleness of it that together with the elastic properties determined intervals with the best potential.
