Abstract

[EN] Samples from five different beet pulps were treated with anhydrous ammonia during various periods up to 96 hours. Such treatments increased the original crude protein (N x 6,25) of the pulps (9,82 - 11,5%) up to values between 22,05 - 23,88%, giving products wich may be of a great value in the feeding of ruminants. About 80% of the total increment is getting up in the first four hours of treatment. The influence of time in the rate of the reaction between ammonia and the components of the pulps have been studied in the present work.
