AbstractThe MAFB protein is a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor that plays important roles both in development and in the regulation of lineage-specific hematopoiesis. This gene contains no introns. The abnormal function of MAFB has been implicated in multiple myeloma, myeloid leukemias, multicentric carpotarsal osteolysis, Dupuytren's disease and nonsyndromic cleft lip.
