AbstractDespite the many studies done since the end of the 19th century on the urban evolution of the city of Granada, many unresolved questions still remain and researchers have differing opinions concerning important issues.1 Numerous, often urgent archaeological excavations have been carried out since the early 1980s that have provided a great deal of new data. However, because of the wide disparity in methodology and quality, compounded by limited press runs and difficult access to original reports, these investigations have cleared up fewer doubts than might be expected after such considerable public and private financial effort.
