AbstractThe ample diversity of plasmids can be understood by using a relaxase phylogenetic clock (MOB classification). Plasmid sequences can be reconstructed from WGS datasets with PLACNET. Two examples will be described in which PLACNET is used to demonstrate roles of plasmids in bacterial evolution. Finally, a strategy to combat plasmid dissemination will be proposed.
