The Ranking Web: New Indicators for New Needs

Abstract

The second edition of the International Workshop on University Rankings took place at the Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales (CCHS-CSIC) on the 21st of April 2009. Major editors from several university rankings took part in this meeting, such as Víctor Guerrero from Scimago, Martijn Visser from the University of Leiden and Ben Sowter from THE-QS. The workshop was divided in two principal sessions. Along the morning session, presentations were held on Scimago Institutions Rankings by Vicente Guerrero, on The Leiden Ranking of World Universities by Martijn Visser, on The Ranking Web: New Indicators for New Needs by Isidro Aguillo and on Rankings and Ratings by Ben Sowter. The afternoon session included workshops on Cybermetric indicators and Good practices in Academic Web Positioning.
